Botox® Injections for Men
in New York
Botox injections are very popular among New York Plastic Surgeon George Lefkovits' male patients for the treatment of certain facial wrinkles including the frown lines, forehead creases, and "crow's feet".
Unlike fillers, Botox® acts by paralyzing the affected muscles. The onset of action in not immediate, but takes about 3-5 days. The duration lasts about 4 months, but evidence suggests that repeated injections prolong the duration.
ADVANTAGES
- Botox® is a non-surgical treatment for wrinkles.
- The Botox® treatment is via injections using a very fine needle.
- Botox® injections are relatively painless.
- The effect is dramatic.
- The effect is reversible.
- There is no anesthesia required.
- Facial frown lines, forehead creases, and "crow's feet" are the most frequent facial creases to benefit.
- In some cases, Botox® may also help ease or eliminate tension headaches

The Botox® Procedure
New York Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. George Lefkovits administers Botox® to his male patients in his Manhattan New York Plastic Surgery office in a very diluted form using multiple fine needle injections. No anesthesia is required.
Post-Operative Course
After the Botox® injections, one can return to work immediately. It is important not to lie down for at least 4 hours after the injections. Also it is suggested that one tries to contract the affected muscles as often as possible for the first few hours; this increases the uptake of Botox® by the muscle thereby helping to maximize its effect.
Results
The effect of Botox® is quite dramatic in minimizing or eliminating facial creases, especially considering that no surgery is done. Its effect can last usually around 4 months. There is evidence to suggest that with repeated injections over time the effect may last 6 months to 1 year.
Risks
Fortunately Botox® is considered very safe. There can be minimal bruising and soreness following the injections which are very temporary and which usually respond to ice packs. In less than 5 % there can be temporary drooping of the eyelid after forehead injections. This can appear 1-2 weeks after the procedure, and may last 4-6 weeks. Prescription eye drops can help resolve this condition in several days. There have been no reports of systemic toxicity.
