Breast Augmentation

In a breast conscious society, small breasts arising from underdevelopment or following pregnancy (s) are often a source of female anxiety. (A video is shown in the office at the time of consultation to help further clarify the operation). Dr. Lefkovits is a New York plastic surgeon who specializes in breast enlargement surgery.
The Operation
The operation involves the insertion of saline implants through an incision under the breast, around the areola (pigmented skin around nipple) surrounding the nipple, or in the armpit. The placement of the breast implant may be above or below the muscle. It is usually performed under general anesthesia in the office operating facility.
Post-Operative Course
A bra is worn for two weeks after which it is removed and self manual massage is begun by the patient. Post-operative complications include capsular contracture, deflation, rippling, nipple sensory loss, loss of breast feeding, asymmetry, bleeding and infections. These will be thoroughly reviewed at consultation. Patients may return to non-strenuous work after a few days.
