Glycolic Acid Peels
in New York City, New York
Glycolic Acid peels are natural non-chemical peels which tend to improve skin texture. They are called the "lunch hour peel" because patients can generally return to work in 1-2 hours. They remove dead cell layers, open up skin pores allowing glands to excrete their material, and can sometimes improve very fine lines. The peels are usually preceded by a two week course of skin cleanser and usage of a very mild glycolic acid cream or lotion.
These pretreatments help to condition the skin and prepare it for the peel. A small percentage of patients can be allergic to the fruit acid which can be discovered with the pretreatment. The peels usually consists of six treatments one to two weeks apart. Most patients can benefit from these peels which are light but leave the skin smooth and glowing.
